August HOT tickets - 3 parties on the Southbank

Hot hot hot hot hot tickets 
for THREE hot hot hot gigs on the Southbank this August! 
Hip-hop-inspired poems and favourite hip-hop songs. 
Curated by award-winning playwright, poet and performer Inua Ellams 
includes: Anthony Anaxagorou, Patience Agbabi, 
Tim Clare, Salena Godden, Dan Cockrill, 
 The UK’s sharpest poets, storytellers and comedians perform improvised soundtracks and films from the genre hopping Tongue Fu Band. Line up includes Rachel Rose Reid, Salena Godden and soul uber legend Omar and more, more, more, please check website for details!

 Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I have a Dream' Speech.

An open-air collision of words, music and film celebrating one of the greatest moments in modern history. Gutsy choirs mix it with 21st-century beats, a new generation of film-makers dream 3D dreams and spoken word artists Hollie McNish, Salena Godden and Charlie Dark celebrate the power of speech. With a rare UK appearance by the legendary Last Poets.

'BEFORE WE'RE GONE'  is OUT NOW! 
 I just finished another year at First Story and saying goodbye yesterday was like the end scene, the moment when the wind changes in Mary Poppins, everyone going their separate ways, singing ‘Lets Go Fly a Kite’…. seriously though, all those hours the kids spent writing, all those poems and all those stories, now have wings and can fly and be shared and read, its brilliant. I’d like to wish all the St Gabriels students the best of luck and massive thanks and good luck to you Miss Meakin!! These anthologies are beautiful, written by 14-15yr old students and then edited by each resident writer, the likes of the wonderful Shauna O’briain, Anthony Anaxagorou and Courttia Newland to name just a few, Please check them out > http://www.firststory.org.uk/
