April news: In light and yellow we shine...

Hello! How are you?

Well, hmmm... Where to begin...??

March was erratic, as inconsistent as a mad march hare, here's to April being more .... and less .... Thank you to everyone that came out to see my March shows. I had such an epic adventure with you all. I met amazing people on International Women's Day, at the Good Immigrant USA launch parties, Extinction Rebellion, Spring Uprising, Bristol, Sonnet Youth, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Trope in Brighton and Bookslam at the Wellcome, brilliant gigs and gatherings and beautiful people. In March I also contributed to two new BBC radio programmes for The Verb and Poetry Please, if you missed those you'll find links below. What a whirlwind! Thank you!

There are some wicked shows and gatherings coming up in April: This week we launch the Verve poetry anthology 84 at Foyles with book proceeds going to CALM. Also very excited to be invited to read poems on Record Shop Day at Rough Trade East on April 13th and then off to explore Madrid with the exceptional poet and my Rough Trade Books comrade Martha Sprackland. Please scroll down for this months hot tickets and links...

On another note entirely, one of the highlights of the past month, was visiting my amazing mother-in-law and messing around making these glorious photographs of flowers and sunlight. Just in case you need some spring joy in your inbox, I'll share my 5 favourite flower experiments here. I know, I know, I know, the news is shit, people are stockpiling food and medicine, Brexit is a shit show, climate crisis, war and death and disasters, please don't get me riled up again ... I feel it all, we all do, we are all more connected than we allow ourselves to know we be ... If you can please donate and follow and share all the good work of good people that are trying to make the world a better place, like Extinction Rebellion and Refugee Community Kitchen and Red Box Project.

Taking a few hours to take photos of flowers lifted my doom. I love this time of year and the spring and the blossom and this world so much, just look out of the window, it is beautiful out there, right now, today, look ... I know it is hard work to be a heavyweight right now, well done for making it out of the long dark winter, congratulations, onwards and upwards...

PESSIMISM IS FOR LIGHTWEIGHTS

See you here and there my loves,
sgxx
