Salena Godden - Summer 2017


Poet and author of literary memoir Springfield Road (Unbound) and poetry books Fishing In The Aftermath Poems 1994-2014 (Burning Eye) and Under The Pier (Nasty Little Press) Salena Godden was shortlisted for this years Ted Hughes Award for new work in poetry with her spoken word album LIVEwire released with independent spoken word label Nymphs and Thugs. LIVEwire is out now on 4 formats: CD, digital download, full-colour zine and double LP vinyl.

Short-fiction Blue Cornflowers, shortlisted for the 4th Estate and Guardian short story prize. This piece was published in April 2017 in the Bare Lit Anthology (Brain Mill Press). This summer Salena Godden was shortlisted for 'Best Spoken Word Performer’ in the 2017 Saboteur awards and the Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship shortlist.

Shade was published in The Good Immigrant, this number one bestseller was crowd-funded in record time and published with Unbound. It featured as a Radio 4 'Book of the Week' and won the Readers Choice Book Of The Year Award. It was also shortlisted in the non-fiction category of The British Book Awards. The audio book and paperback of The Good Immigrant are out NOW! 

New work-in-progress, Mrs Death Misses Death, showcased at The Roundhouse, Last Word Festival, June 2017. This work is in development, based on the private letters, prose and poetry of Mrs Death, a collaboration of words with music composed by Peter Coyte.
