International Women's Day With Rough Trade Books And Friends At Foyles

Here comes the yellow my daffodillies,

I’m getting ready to do a real live show and hope to see some of you there.

Excited to announce my first gig of 2023 is this: International Women's Day, Rough Trade Books and friends, Wednesday March 8th, Foyles, Charing Cross Rd. Soho, London - We will launch the beautiful new hardback edition of 'Pessimism is for Lightweights' that night and I look forward to sharing the new work for the first time. Thrilled to be celebrating International Women's Day with my RTB friends and sharing the stage with the utter brilliance of: Sunnah Kahn, Sharan Hunjan, Ella Frears, Emma Warren and Anna Wood, here's the menu:

  • Poetry from Sharan Hunjan and Sunnah Khan, who feature in 4 Brown Girls Who Write - the work of a collective of radical, daring performance poets - alongisde Ella Frears, who'll be reading from her haunting and musical collection, I Am The Mother Cat

  • Conversation with Emma Warren and Anna Wood exploring the culture and history of modern dance. Emma Warren’s Dance Your Way Home is a social history of the dancefloor; Anna Wood’s debut collection of short stories, Yes Yes More More is a whirlwind, surrealist tour of joy, pleasure, and pop music.

  • Salena Godden presents Pessimism Is For Lightweights, a work of resistance and protest through beautifully crafted and emotionally complex poetry. Facing sexism, racism, and identity in modern Britain, these are poems for our times.
